This medicine in the United States has developed and been used as mutual aid, as poor people’s medicine, as movement medicine, and as a form of resistance and harm reduction for generations - It is in this spirit that the following information is shared.

  • Lincoln Detox

This particular protocol, or acupuncture point combination was developed in the 1970s at Lincoln Detox in the Bronx by a team that included members of the Young Lords and the Black Panthers to help support community care and address the widespread effects of racial capitalism, including chronic stress and addiction.

  • Effects

The NADA protocol was created and used by the Black Panthers, the Young Lords, and the Republic of New Afrika as a tool for liberation and community health. It consists of placing 5 small, sterile disposable needles into specific points in the ear. After placing the needle people sit for 20 to 30 minutes with the needles in.

This treatment is used to release chronic stress, promote general relaxation, and nervous system nourishment. The points reduce cravings, help reset the nervous system, increase calm, help sleep and relieve stress. We will look at how to needle each point and talk more in depth about their effects.
